Seattle Mayor Vetoes RV Permit Bill, Signs Four Other RV Ordinances and Tees Up Executive Order for November 3

Mayor Katie Wilson of Seattle, in King County, Washington, on November 2 vetoed Council Bill 121283, which would have created a new Recreational Vehicle (RV) permit program, while signing the other four ordinances in the same legislative package. She will announce a new Executive Order to address RVs on November 3.
"The Council and I share many of the same goals — we want to support unsheltered people in every neighborhood in our city, and ensure public space, including right of way, is available to everyone," Mayor Wilson said, adding that she shares residents' and councilmembers' frustrations and encourages good-faith efforts to find solutions that help people get and stay housed.
The Executive Order will focus on strengthening outreach and support services for people living in RVs and bring together City departments and community partners to improve how Seattle manages RVs, with the goals of better outcomes for people living in vehicles, fewer people living in vehicles over time, and cleaner, safer public spaces.
The mayor will hold a press conference at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, in the Norm B. Rice Room at Seattle City Hall, 600 4th Ave, joined by Councilmember Alexis Mercedes Rinck, Police Deputy Chief Yvonne Underwood, Human Services Director Tanya Kim, and community and civil-liberties leaders.
