Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · Sports · GSM News

Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska — The University of Nebraska men's basketball team opened its season on the evening of November 2 at Pinnacle Bank Arena, routing Le Moyne 106-64. Cale Jacobsen and Pryce Sandfort combined for 30 first-half points as Nebraska built a 26-point halftime lead and never looked back.

Nebraska shot 62.5 percent in the first half and scored 58 points, its highest first-half total since 2005; the 106 points were the team's highest single-game total since 2020. The win extended Nebraska's regular-season non-conference winning streak to 23 games, dating back to 2023. Head coach Fred Hoiberg used the opener mainly to test his new lineup in a real game, and the team delivered on both ends of the floor.

Nebraska next travels to face Providence in the Hall of Fame Tipoff at Mohegan Sun Arena on November 7, with tipoff set for 6 p.m. CT on FS1 and the Huskers Radio Network.
