West Virginia American Water Invests $700,000 to Replace Aging Pipes in Glen Jean

Glen Jean, Fayette County, West Virginia — West Virginia American Water announced on November 3 that it will invest $700,000 in Glen Jean, Fayette County, to replace aging water lines on McKell Avenue. The project will replace 3,740 feet of old pipe with 6-inch and 2-inch PVC mains, covering McKell Avenue from Main Street to Collins Hill Road as well as parts of Pearl Street and Holcomb Street.
Work began the week of October 12 and is scheduled for completion by the end of April 2027, with final street restoration in spring 2027. Construction runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with traffic restrictions in place along the route.
Company President Scott Wyman said the investment will strengthen the water system so Glen Jean residents can keep receiving clean, reliable water for years to come. The project is part of the company's plan to invest more than $129 million in infrastructure upgrades across the state in 2026, supporting community economic health and stable public services.
