Folsom Tech Firm Warns of Phishing Emails After Three Clients Report Bank Account Compromises in One Week

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · Cities · GSM News

FOLSOM, California — Stech Group, a technology company in Folsom, in California's Sacramento region, warned local businesses on November 3 about phishing emails, saying three of its clients had discovered problems with their bank accounts in the past week after clicking email links that appeared legitimate.

The company said the affected clients, banks and amounts were not disclosed and the attack method had not been independently confirmed, but that three incidents concentrated in one week in the same region warranted attention from Sacramento-area employers. A Stech Group representative, Timothy, said all three clients noticed the account problems only after clicking links they believed were legitimate. The company advised businesses that employees should not enter passwords or banking information after clicking links in unexpected emails, and should immediately verify and report suspicious banking communications.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) likewise warns that phishing emails may impersonate banks, vendors, friends or other familiar senders to trick recipients into revealing information. Data from the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) put nationwide losses from business email compromise at about $3 billion in 2025. Stech Group said the warning applies to businesses across the Sacramento region, including those with no prior cybersecurity incidents.
