Travis County Lifts Outdoor Burn Ban on November 3

AUSTIN, Texas — The Travis County Fire Marshal's Office announced on November 3 that the outdoor burn ban for the county's unincorporated areas is lifted effective immediately, allowing residents around Austin to resume outdoor burning.
County Fire Marshal Gary Howell said recent weather has improved, with higher moisture and lower wildfire risk making it possible to lift the ban, while cautioning that outdoor burning still carries risk and residents should follow safe-burning rules. Under the rules, residents of unincorporated areas may now burn trash, debris or brush, but must comply with state regulations under Title 30, Section 111.219 of the Texas Administrative Code.
Fire officials advise keeping water or a fire extinguisher nearby while burning and contacting the local fire department for any required permits before burning; residents unsure which department to contact can call the Travis County Fire Marshal's Office at 512-854-4621. Residents can also text TCBURNBAN to 888777 for the latest burn-ban updates, and should call 911 immediately if a fire gets out of control. The county stressed that lifting the ban does not mean unrestricted burning, and residents should stay alert to dangerous fire conditions.
