New York Attorney General Letitia James Opens Election Protection Hotline Through 9 P.M.

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · Cities · GSM News

NEW YORK — New York State Attorney General Letitia James reminded voters on November 3 that her office's Election Protection Hotline is available on Election Day to help voters who run into problems casting a ballot. The hotline operates from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Election Day and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. the following day; voters can call 866-390-2992 or file a complaint online about polling-place problems, mail-in ballot issues or other obstacles to voting. The hotline has operated during every election since November 2012.

The Attorney General's Office also reminded voters that New York polling places were open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on November 3, and that voters already in line by 9 p.m. could still vote. Election Day was also the last day to return a mail ballot: ballots had to be postmarked by Election Day and received by the Board of Elections within seven days to count.

New York voters on November 3 chose a governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, comptroller, members of Congress and state legislators, while New York City voters also decided five city charter amendments.
