Minneapolis Voters Place 'I Voted' Stickers at Memorials Honoring Two Killed in January Federal Operation

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · Cities · GSM News

On Election Day, November 3, 2026, 'I Voted' stickers appeared at several memorial sites in Minneapolis, in Minnesota's Hennepin County. Voters placed the stickers on poles and signs around the memorials honoring Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and a FOX 9 reporter at the scene saw dozens of stickers at both memorial sites.

Good and Pretti were both shot and killed by federal officers in January 2026 during Operation Metro Surge, the federal government's large-scale immigration enforcement operation. Reports did not give an exact total for the stickers or say whether the placements were coordinated, but the stickers linked the two deaths directly to the act of voting that day.

Good's family has filed a civil lawsuit over her death, and Pretti's parents have publicly demanded that federal agencies release evidence related to his death. Polls in Minneapolis were open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, and early voting statewide set a midterm record: the Secretary of State's office said more than 886,000 early ballots had been accepted, above the 2022 record of about 687,000. Rain fell in Minneapolis on Election Day as voters headed to the polls.
