Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

Shortly after Delaware's polls closed at 8 p.m. Eastern on November 3, the Associated Press declared Democratic Senator Chris Coons re-elected and Democratic Representative Sarah McBride the winner of a second term; CNN and ABC made the same calls. In the AP's latest tally, with about 94 percent of precincts reporting, Coons had 233,370 votes and McBride had 236,267 votes.

According to Delaware Online's election-night report, McBride had won about 68 percent of the vote before 9 p.m., leading Republican Joseph Arminio by more than 67,000 votes, a higher share than the 58 percent she won in her first election in 2024. Turnout was brisk statewide: by 6:11 p.m., 342,839 voters had checked in out of 810,407 registered voters, and at about 8:30 p.m. roughly 150,000 early ballots appeared first on the state Department of Elections website. The department began releasing results for state legislative and other local races through the night. Delaware voters also decided the attorney general, state treasurer, auditor and other offices the same day.
