Nevada Vote Centers Close at 7 p.m.; Reno Campus Site Sees 112-Minute Wait

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

On the evening of November 3, Nevada's vote centers closed at 7 p.m. and the state entered the counting phase. Voters still in line at 7 p.m. could still vote, and results cannot begin to be released until the last voter who was in line statewide has cast a ballot. According to on-the-scene reporting that evening by the Reno Gazette Journal, as of 5:30 p.m. the estimated wait at the Joe Crowley Student Union vote center at the University of Nevada, Reno had reached 112 minutes. Washoe County Registrar of Voters Andrew McDonald said in a midday briefing that election-night counting was not expected to be hindered as a result. Nevada's most closely watched midterm race is for governor, where Republican incumbent Joe Lombardo is seeking reelection against Democratic Attorney General Aaron Ford, with pre-election polls showing the two nearly tied. Northern Nevada also saw rain on Election Day, and the National Weather Service office in Reno advised voters that Washoe County would see intermittent rain before the polls closed. The Secretary of State's office reminded voters they can find vote centers and ballot drop-off locations across the state on its website.
