Hochul Holds Double-Digit Lead as New York City Early Voting Tops 690,000

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · Cities · GSM News

Voters in New York State, including New York City in Kings County and across the five boroughs, cast ballots on November 3 for governor and other offices. Incumbent Governor Kathy Hochul held a double-digit lead in the closing stage: late-October polls by Siena, Marist and Quinnipiac put Hochul about 11 to 14 points ahead of Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman.

More than 690,000 New York City voters cast early ballots after early voting began on October 24. Hochul rallied with House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on November 2, while Blakeman wrapped up a statewide tour at Madison Square Garden.

The race was fought over affordability, public safety and immigration, with Blakeman stressing prices and crime and Hochul highlighting her partnership with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and tying her opponent to Trump administration policies. The outcome now hinges on Election Day turnout in the suburbs and upstate, where independent voters could shift the margin.
