Pittsburgh Closes Some Recreation Centers on Election Day; Four Offer Free Childcare

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · Cities · GSM News

The City of Pittsburgh in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, announced on October 30 that many Citiparks recreation centers and Healthy Active Living senior centers will be closed or offer limited services on Election Day, November 3: six recreation centers and three senior centers will close, and three other senior centers will offer lunch service only. With Pittsburgh Public Schools closed for Election Day, four recreation centers — Ammon, Jefferson, Magee and Ormsby — will open at 8:30 a.m. to provide free childcare with lunch for students and families; families should register directly with the center they plan to use.

The city reminds residents to plan ahead: polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on November 3, anyone in line by 8 p.m. may vote, and voters should verify their polling location through the Pennsylvania Department of State, since locations can change between elections.

Allegheny County also offers ballot return options: voters could return ballots at designated locations through November 2, or at the County Office Building, 542 Forbes Avenue, on Election Day. All completed mail and absentee ballots must be received by the Allegheny County Elections Division by 8 p.m. on November 3 to be counted; ballots postmarked on Election Day but received late will not count.
