Utah House District 22 Voters Choose Between Dailey-Provost and Varga

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · Cities · GSM News

On November 3, voters in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, choose between Democratic incumbent Rep. Jen Dailey-Provost and Republican challenger Char Varga in Utah House District 22, which includes the University of Utah, whose campus residents are among the voters. Dailey-Provost has served since January 2019, is the House minority whip, and is a public health researcher and faculty member at the university.

In an interview with The Daily Utah Chronicle, Dailey-Provost said her priorities include housing affordability, public health and support for families; she has an appropriations request to restore child care assistance for some families who lost benefits and is working on paid family leave legislation and stronger local food production. Varga did not respond to the Chronicle's interview requests, and the Salt Lake Tribune reported she also did not respond to its candidate questionnaire on affordability, water and other priorities, so her positions on child care assistance, paid family leave and local food production could not be verified.

Salt Lake County's listed Election Day vote centers include the Gould Auditorium at the university's J. Willard Marriott Library, open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.; eligible county voters may use any vote center in the county and must bring valid identification.
