DC Voters Cast Ballots in Mayoral and Congressional Delegate Races, With Lewis George Favored to Succeed Bowser

Voters in Washington, District of Columbia, cast ballots on November 3 for mayor, the District's non-voting congressional delegate, attorney general and council seats. Vote centers are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and registered DC voters may vote at any vote center.
In the mayoral race, Democrat Janeese Lewis George, who won the June primary with 54% of the vote, is the heavy favorite. She faces Statehood Green Party candidate Robert Gross, independent Rhonda Hamilton and write-in contenders. The winner will succeed Mayor Muriel Bowser, who is completing her third term and did not seek re-election. Lewis George has made defending the District's limited home rule a central campaign theme.
In the delegate race, Democratic nominee Robert White resigned his at-large council seat on November 2 because the law bars a congressional delegate from holding another paid public office on Election Day; he faces Republican Denise Rosado and Statehood Green candidate Kymone Freeman. Voters are also choosing council members for Wards 1, 3, 5 and 6, the council chair and an at-large member, and deciding Initiative 86, which would ban the production and sale of foie gras.
