Maryland Election Day: Moore Faces Cox as All Eight U.S. House Seats Are Decided

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

Maryland polls were open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on November 3, and voters in line by 8 p.m. could still vote at their assigned polling places. It was a long ballot: governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, comptroller, legislative seats and all eight U.S. House seats. Democratic Gov. Wes Moore sought re-election against Republican Dan Cox. In House races, Republican Rep. Andy Harris faced Democrat Dan Schwartz in the 1st District, Democrat Johnny Olszewski faced Republican Dave Wallace in the 2nd, and incumbents in the 3rd and 4th districts also sought re-election. At the local level, Montgomery County and Anne Arundel County both chose new county executives because incumbents were term-limited: in Montgomery, Democratic Councilmember Will Jawando faced Republican CPA Esther Wells; in Anne Arundel, Democratic Councilmember Allison Pickard faced Republican volunteer firefighter Dave Crawford. Mail ballots had to be postmarked by November 3 or dropped in an official drop box by 8 p.m.; eligible residents could register on Election Day with ID and proof of residence, and polling places could be checked on the State Board of Elections website.
