South Carolina's Senate Race Is Neck-and-Neck as Early Voting Passes a Record 1.04 Million

South Carolina polls were open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 3, with voters in line at 7 p.m. still able to vote at their assigned polling places with photo ID, including a state driver's license, a DMV ID card, a photo voter registration card, a federal military ID or a U.S. passport. All U.S. House seats and all state House seats were on the ballot, along with a U.S. Senate seat and the governorship. The Senate race was the closest: Republican Sen. Darline Graham faced Democrat Annie Andrews, with recent polls showing the two neck-and-neck. The seat belonged to Lindsey Graham, who died on July 11, 2026; the governor appointed his sister Darline Graham to serve the remainder of the term. For governor, Republican Attorney General Alan Wilson faced Democratic state Rep. Jermaine Johnson, as Gov. Henry McMaster could not seek a third consecutive term. Andrews reminded voters on social media that polling information is at SCVotes.gov and that voting problems could be reported to the free voter-protection hotline at 855-785-0222. Early voting set a record: the State Election Commission reported more than 1,044,000 early voters, far above about 562,000 in 2022, out of roughly 3.47 million registered voters; the early voting period ran October 19 to 31. Results were to be posted at scvotes.gov after polls closed.
