Follow-Up: 17-Year-Old Arrested in Fairfield Halloween Store Shooting: 1 Dead, 6 Injured

FAIRFIELD, Solano County, California, Nov. 3 — Police announced that a 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the October 30 shooting at a Halloween store in Fairfield that left one woman dead and six people injured. Police said the teen will be charged with murder in the coming days.
According to the Fairfield Police Department, the shooting took place at about 8:30 p.m. on October 30 at a Spirit Halloween store in the Solano Town Center. Police said the suspect walked into the store, saw a customer believed to be his intended target, and then opened fire.
In an updated social media post on November 3, police said the teen was arrested on November 2 in Suisun City, in Solano County. Because the suspect is a minor, police did not release his name.
Fairfield's police chief has said the shooting was not random and that investigators believe the suspect had a connection to the victims. Police also said the suspect could face a second murder charge if it is confirmed that one of the victims was pregnant at the time.
The case remains under investigation, and police have not released details on the source of the gun or the suspect's motive.
The shooting, at a shopping venue on the night before Halloween, has drawn concern from local residents. Fairfield is about 50 miles northeast of San Francisco, and the Solano Town Center is one of the city's main shopping centers. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward and said charges will be updated as the investigation progresses.
