China's Foreign Ministry Responds to Nvidia Data Center Report: Cooperation Should Follow Fair, Transparent, Non-Discriminatory Principles

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · World · GSM News

On November 3, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning responded at the regular press conference to a report about data center partnership conditions set by U.S. chipmaker Nvidia.

An AFP reporter said in the question that, according to the Financial Times, Nvidia has required some data center partners to provide at least 51 percent of their services to non-Chinese companies, a move that could restrict Chinese companies' access to key super intelligence (SI) technologies, and asked for China's response.

Mao said: 'I am not aware of the specifics. We consistently believe that all parties should carry out cooperation in accordance with the principles of fairness, transparency and non-discrimination.'

The 51 percent figure comes from the Financial Times report; the Chinese Foreign Ministry did not confirm the specifics of that report, and no response from Nvidia to the report appears in the Foreign Ministry's press conference record. (Source: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China)
