Pennsylvania Governor Election: AP Projects Shapiro Wins Re-election

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Associated Press projected on the evening of November 3 that Democratic incumbent Governor Josh Shapiro has won re-election in Pennsylvania, defeating Republican challenger Stacy Garrity.

When the AP made the call, 1,392 of Pennsylvania's 9,064 precincts had reported, or 15.36%. Shapiro had 644,387 votes, Garrity 161,289, and Libertarian candidate Ken Krawchuk 7,040. Counting is continuing; the figures are unofficial and final results are subject to certification by the Pennsylvania Department of State.

Shapiro was first elected governor of Pennsylvania in 2022 after serving as the state's attorney general. Garrity, the state's sitting treasurer, was the Republican nominee for governor.

The governor's race was held statewide alongside federal and state offices, with Harrisburg as the state capital.
