Illinois Senate Election: AP Projects Stratton Wins

The Associated Press projected on the evening of November 3 that Democratic candidate Juliana Stratton has won Illinois' U.S. Senate election, defeating Republican Don Tracy.
When the AP made the call, 2,809 of Illinois' 8,496 precincts had reported, or 33.06%, with an estimated 32.59% of the total vote counted. Stratton had 966,727 votes, Tracy 496,474 and Whitfield Harrington 21,678. Counting is continuing; the figures are unofficial and final results are subject to certification by state election officials.
This year's Illinois Senate race was for the seat vacated by the retiring Senator Dick Durbin. Stratton currently serves as Illinois' lieutenant governor.
The Senate race was held statewide on the same day as the House elections, with Springfield as the state capital.
