Rhode Island Governor Election: AP Projects Foulkes Wins

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Associated Press projected on the evening of November 3 that Democratic candidate Helena Foulkes has won the Rhode Island governor's race, defeating independent Kenneth Block and Republican Aaron Guckian to become governor of Rhode Island.

When the AP made the call, 385 of Rhode Island's 454 precincts had reported, or 84.8%, with an estimated 85.22% of the total vote counted. Foulkes had 181,765 votes, Block 87,700 and Guckian 42,460; no other candidate exceeded 2,000 votes. Counting is continuing; the figures are unofficial and final results are subject to certification by state election officials.

The governor's race was held statewide on the same day as the federal Senate and House elections, with Providence as the state capital.
