White House Issues Election Day Reminder: Polls Open Nationwide, Voters in Line at Closing Time Can Still Vote

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · White House · GSM News

WASHINGTON, November 3 — November 3 is Election Day for the U.S. midterm elections. The White House sent voters a reminder on Tuesday: polls are open across the country, and voters who have not yet cast a ballot should find their polling place and go vote. Polls close at different times by state, so voters should check their state's hours before heading out.

The White House listed three things to do before going. First, check polling hours, which differ by state. Second, bring what is needed: many states require ID at the polls, and voters should check their state's ID rules. Third, stay in line — voters who are in line when polls close can still vote.

Voters holding a mail ballot can drop it off today at an official drop box or a local election office, the reminder said, and should check their state's deadline. Voters who need a ride can look for free options nearby or call 2-1-1 for help.

The White House also urged people who have already voted to help someone else get to the polls and to bring friends and family along to vote.
