Follow-up: Duterte Supporters Rally in the Rain Outside the Philippine Supreme Court, Demanding Immediate Action on the Duterte and Dela Rosa Petitions

Members of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) and supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte rallied in the rain outside the Philippine Supreme Court in Manila on the morning of November 3, demanding that the court immediately resolve pending petitions involving Duterte and Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa. The party also submitted a letter to the court reiterating the appeal.
In an open letter dated October 31, the party's acting chairman, Alfonso Cusi, had already urged the Supreme Court to rule without delay, saying prolonged pendency could fuel uncertainty and instability. The party noted that a habeas corpus petition filed on Duterte's behalf has been pending before the court for nearly 600 days, and that a motion for reconsideration filed on Dela Rosa's side likewise awaits resolution.
Duterte was arrested in the Philippines on March 11, 2025 and handed over to the International Criminal Court in The Hague; his trial on charges of crimes against humanity is scheduled to begin on November 30 this year. Dela Rosa, the chief enforcer of Duterte's anti-drug campaign, is also wanted by the ICC and remains in hiding, with Philippine police tracking teams formed across the country to find him.
