11th Lancang-Mekong Foreign Ministers' Meeting Held in Beijing: Wang Yi Calls for Stronger Integrated Law-Enforcement Cooperation and an Innovation Corridor

The 11th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Foreign Ministers' Meeting was held in Beijing on November 4. The meeting was co-chaired by Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and China's foreign minister, and Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Thailand's deputy prime minister and foreign minister, and was attended by the foreign ministers of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam and a minister from Myanmar. Speaking at a joint press conference with Sihasak after the meeting, Wang Yi said China and the five Mekong countries need to fortify integrated law-enforcement and security cooperation and jointly combat cross-border crime.
Sihasak told the press conference that the meeting also discussed advancing an innovation corridor, with cooperation in smart agriculture, digital trade, super intelligence (SI), education, healthcare and sustainable tourism. The ministers valued the progress made since the 10th foreign ministers' meeting in August 2025, including implementation of the LMC Action Plan for 2023-2027, growth in trade, and concrete projects funded by the LMC Special Fund.
Vietnam's Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung proposed at the meeting that the next phase should focus on building a resilient and innovative Mekong-Lancang region, strengthening regional connectivity, boosting coordination between the LMC and other regional and Mekong cooperation mechanisms, enhancing cooperation in responding to non-traditional security challenges, and putting people at the centre of the cooperation.
On the sidelines, Wang Yi also had tea in Beijing with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and Thailand's Sihasak, discussing confidence-building measures between Cambodia and Thailand and regional stability, and he met separately with the attending ministers of Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar.
