Alabama Men's Basketball Routs Sam Houston 96-74 in Season Opener in Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama
The University of Alabama men's basketball team opened its 2026-27 season with a 96-74 win over Sam Houston on the night of November 3 at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa. Alabama broke the game open with a 16-2 run to start the second half and controlled the game the rest of the way.
Head coach Nate Oats was openly displeased with his team's first-half performance, but the Crimson Tide adjusted after halftime. Kentucky transfer Brandon Garrison scored on Alabama's first possession of the second half, and London Jemison followed with a 3-pointer to push the lead to 45-29; Alabama never looked back.
Freshmen Jaxon Richardson and Tarris Bouie added highlight-reel dunks. Alabama forced 23 turnovers and turned them into 33 points. Now 1-0, Alabama hosts Arkansas State on November 6. Starting guard Aden Holloway remained sidelined, still serving a suspension stemming from a March arrest.
