The University of Wyoming men's basketball team opened its season with a 95-48 rout of Regis University on the night of November 3, a result reported by media on November 4.

According to the Associated Press, Wyoming guard Khaden Bennett scored 15 points to help the Cowboys beat visiting Regis by 47 points at home in Laramie. It was the Cowboys' first game of the 2026-27 season, and they controlled it from the opening tip, winning 95-48. Regis is an NCAA Division II program, while Wyoming competes in Division I's Mountain West Conference; despite the gap between the programs, the offensive firepower and defensive intensity Wyoming showed in the opener made for a strong start to the new season.

According to the AP schedule, the Cowboys next host Idaho State at home on Friday. The Arena-Auditorium in Laramie, the Cowboys' home court at more than 2,200 meters of elevation, has long been known as a tough place to play. The opening-night rout also gave Wyoming fans added anticipation for the new season.
