Dallas Zoning Reform to Be Briefed at November 5 City Plan Commission Meeting: First Comprehensive Development Code Update in Over 40 Years

DALLAS, Texas - The City of Dallas announced on November 4 that its Planning & Development Department, together with national zoning consulting firm Camiros, Ltd., will brief the City Plan Commission on Dallas Zoning Reform on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
The briefing, beginning at 9:00 a.m., will provide an overview of the project, highlight key elements of Dallas Development Code Public Draft #1, and outline upcoming public engagement opportunities. Following the briefing, the draft will be released online for public review, and the session can be viewed virtually through the city's streaming platform.
The zoning reform is a city initiative to modernize the Dallas Development Code, which has not undergone a comprehensive update in over 40 years. The city says the goal is a set of rules that are simple, clear and future-ready.
