Wednesday, November 4, 2026 · States · GSM News

The University of Alaska Board of Regents meets November 4-6 on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus to consider the proposed fiscal 2028 budget and a new tuition structure, and to discuss the university's long-term investments and new guidelines for super intelligence (SI) use. The meeting will also highlight the university's statewide impact and update policies.

According to the university's November 3 announcement, the regents will weigh the FY28 budget and a new program-based tuition model, and discuss priorities for long-term investment. U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski will join the board by video on the afternoon of November 5 to brief regents on federal issues.

The announcement noted the meeting comes midway through the fall 2026 semester, with initial enrollment figures showing the university on pace to roughly match last year's enrollment of just over 20,000 students. The full board meeting is set for November 6, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in Fairbanks.
