Pedestrian Killed by Amtrak Downeaster Train in Rollinsford, New Hampshire, on November 4

On the afternoon of November 4, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a southbound Amtrak Downeaster train in Rollinsford, New Hampshire. Lt. William Hancock of the Rollinsford Police Department said the accident occurred just before 3 p.m. near the tracks by the intersection of Main Street and Mechanic Street, and that police are investigating and cannot yet say whether it was an accident or a suicide.
Passenger Lindsey Chisholm said the train came to a slow stop at about 3:05 p.m. and passengers were later told of the fatality; she and her husband had boarded in Wells, Maine, heading to a Boston Celtics game at TD Garden. The train resumed its southbound journey at about 4:45 p.m. The Downeaster runs daily between Boston and Brunswick, Maine, with New Hampshire Seacoast stops in Dover, Durham and Exeter. Police said the victim's identity has not been released and the investigation is ongoing.
