Honolulu-Based Matson Reports Third-Quarter Net Income of $209.4 Million on November 4 and Raises Full-Year Outlook

Honolulu-based Matson, Inc., a leading U.S. carrier in the Pacific, on November 4 reported third-quarter 2026 net income of $209.4 million, or $6.96 per diluted share, up from $134.7 million, or $4.24 per diluted share, a year earlier. Consolidated revenue was $1,113.5 million, versus $880.1 million in the third quarter of 2025, and consolidated operating income was $255.2 million, versus $161.0 million. The company also raised its full-year outlook.
Chairman and CEO Matt Cox said the third quarter was stronger than expected and that the company's China service performed well, with speed and reliability as key differentiators. Matson expects the China service's strong demand and elevated freight rates to continue through year-end and into early 2027; fourth-quarter ocean transportation operating income is expected to be about 50 percent higher than a year earlier, logistics operating income modestly higher, and consolidated operating income about 50 percent above the fourth quarter of 2025.
Matson is one of the principal carriers in the U.S. Pacific trades, and its results are watched as a barometer of Hawaii's economy. Its upbeat full-year outlook drew market attention after the release.
