Pakistan Test-Fires First Homegrown Air-to-Air Missile "Fa'az" From JF-17 Fighter

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan — The Pakistan Air Force's public relations directorate announced on November 3, 2026, that Pakistan had successfully test-fired its first indigenously developed air-to-air missile, "Fa'az," marking another significant milestone in the country's aerospace and defense capabilities. A video released by the Pakistan Air Force's public relations directorate showed a JF-17 Thunder fighter launching the missile from an underwing pylon.
According to the military, Fa'az is equipped with an advanced terminal guidance system and can engage enemy aerial targets at longer ranges; the test will significantly enhance the Pakistan Air Force's operational flexibility and further strengthen the country's overall defense posture, the military said. Senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces and the scientists and engineers behind the missile watched the test on site, and Pakistan's president, prime minister, army chief and service chiefs congratulated those involved on the successful test.
The military statement disclosed no specific technical parameters such as the missile's range, speed or seeker type, and no induction timetable. Before this test, the Pakistan Army successfully test-fired an extended-range Fatah-2 ballistic missile on October 13, 2026, and an extended-range Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile in early October.
