Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson Celebrates Transit Measure Support and Election Momentum in Post-Election Statement

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, of King County, Washington, issued a statement on November 4 on the November 3 election results, saying voters in Seattle, in Washington State and across the country sent a clear message that they want government to fight for working people and make life more affordable. Locally, she said, the Seattle Transit Measure won landslide support, with voters wanting world-class public transit that makes driving a choice, not a necessity.
Wilson said she is excited to begin working with her newest colleague on the City Council, Nilu Jenks, to deliver for the residents of District 5 and the whole city. She also said she is thrilled to see voters reject the repeal of the Millionaire Tax, a measure that in a few years will fund universal school meals across the state, adding that Seattle led the way this year.
She said Seattle affirms and stands up for the rights of trans kids, and that she will be watching the continuing statewide vote count on I-638.
Wilson noted that Seattle hosted a Vote Center for the first time this year in City Hall, and that the packed lobby of residents exercising their right to vote filled her with hope. She said she looks forward to working with colleagues new and old at all levels of government to deliver results for Seattle.
