[Video] Pastor Preaches From a $4,000 Massage Chair: Michael Todd's 'Right Sitting' Sermon Goes Viral

Michael Todd, lead pastor of Transformation Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, wheeled a massage chair onto the stage during his Sunday sermon on November 1 and preached from it for several minutes with the massage function running, according to Dexerto and Protestia. Clips of the moment spread across social media, drawing millions of views, Dexerto reported.
The sermon, titled 'Living For Christ In A Lazy Boy,' is Part 2 of the church's 'Happy & Hungry' series; the church's official channel has posted the full video, and the sermon's title and date also appear in the church's official podcast listing. Todd sat in an Osaki Champ II massage chair, priced at about $3,999 on sale with a regular price of about $6,000. At about 1:01:34 into the official full video, he reclined and switched on the massage functions.
'I would tell you that righteousness is right standing with God. But most believers are in what I call right sitting with God,' Todd said from the chair. 'You are living for Christ in a La-Z-Boy.' He said some people are faithful only when it is easy: 'I'm only doing it if it's comfortable. I'm only doing it if it does not require me to move out of my spot.'
'How good could I fight from this position? How good could I protect myself? How good could I actually help somebody who was in need right there?' he asked, adding: 'Right standing with God means that I have to stop letting my life of righteousness be reclined.' He then left the chair, urging the congregation to become more active in their faith rather than staying comfortable.
Todd has led Transformation Church since 2015 and is known for using vivid props to illustrate his sermons. Protestia posted the massage-chair clip on X on November 2, and Dexerto's November 4 report gave the clip a fresh round of attention.
