Follow-Up: Boston Plumber Chris Donisi Wins Audition to Become Logan Airport's New Voice

Thursday, November 5, 2026 · Society · GSM News

Boston Logan International Airport announced on November 5 that local plumber Christopher "Chris" Donisi has won a statewide audition to become the airport's new public-address announcer, greeting the millions of travelers who pass through Boston each year. The Massachusetts Port Authority said more than 6,000 people entered the open audition; Donisi emerged from eight finalists and was chosen by a public vote totaling more than 35,000 ballots.

Donisi's voice will replace that of Joe LoGiudice, who served the airport for nearly 25 years. The authority said the new voice will be heard in terminal announcements including boarding reminders, safety notices and flight information. Donisi is a working plumber, not a professional broadcaster, one reason the selection drew attention: the authority wanted a voice that represents Boston's local character rather than a generic announcer's delivery.

Logan is the busiest airport in New England, handling tens of millions of passengers a year. The authority said the changeover will be completed soon and travelers will hear Donisi's voice in the terminals shortly. It did not disclose the cost of the selection and recording process, saying only that the entire process was public, with finalists' voice samples posted online for the public to hear and vote on.
