Dolly Parton's Estate Drops Lawsuit Against Her Nephew, Who Says He Is Grateful to Put the Misunderstanding Behind Him

The estate of the late country music icon Dolly Parton has dropped its lawsuit against her nephew. According to court documents obtained by People, She's Alive, LLC, the company Parton organized to tend to her business interests after her death, filed a notice of voluntary dismissal of its lawsuit against Bryan Seaver in the Chancery Court of Tennessee on November 5. The dismissal was filed without prejudice, meaning the company could choose to file again.

Seaver, Parton's nephew, served as his aunt's head of security for more than 20 years before he was fired in September. She's Alive, which is operated by Parton's longtime manager Danny Nozell, had alleged that Seaver made a number of extortionary threats invoking his military background, that his behavior had prompted the resignation of multiple employees, and that he had threatened to "destroy" Parton's brand partnerships through a podcast. The company had obtained a temporary restraining order against him, and a motion hearing had been scheduled for November 13.

Seaver denied ever threatening anyone, said his private messages with Nozell were taken out of context, and wrote in an October 13 court filing that the restraining order was interfering with his life and with his position as a beneficiary of Parton's trust. After the dismissal, Seaver said in a statement through his attorney to TMZ that he cares deeply about his Aunt Dolly, her music, her family and the legacy she left behind, that he made a career out of protecting his aunt while she was alive, and that he is grateful to put this misunderstanding behind him so the family can grieve peacefully.

Parton died on August 25 at age 80. Seaver's mother Cassie, Parton's younger sister, said in a message shared on his Facebook page on October 26 that Parton had chosen Seaver to be the one to announce the news of her death when the time came, and expressed her support for her son. (Source: People)
