Thursday, November 5, 2026 · Cities · GSM News

The City of Minneapolis, in Hennepin County, Minnesota, announced in its November 5 city update the launch of a new Minneapolis 311 mobile app. The app offers 126 service types, letting residents report issues and request city services from their phones, from street and sidewalk concerns to problems with signs, trees and garbage; the 311 system's online experience has also been improved, with downloads available for Android and iPhone.

The update also reported progress on selecting a development partner for the Peoples' Way site at George Floyd Square: the city received applications from two groups, PGMA Development and RiverNorth Development, and will hold a community open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17 at the 38th & Chicago Field Office, 3736 Chicago Ave, where representatives of both applicant teams and city staff will answer questions, with paper and digital comment cards available.

The city's Local Board of Appeal and Equalization (LBAE) is recruiting members from November 1 to 30 to hear property owners who disagree with their property assessments; members should have appraisal or real estate experience or be Minneapolis property owners, no prior assessment experience is required, training is provided, members receive $125 per half-day of service, and the board meets in April. The city has also published a request for proposals for community navigation services at the South Minneapolis Community Safety Center, with responses due November 10.
