Spain to Provide Ukraine With €437 Million in New Military Aid, Zelenskyy Announces in Madrid

Madrid — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on November 5, after meeting Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on the sidelines of the 30th Ibero-American Summit in Madrid, that Spain will provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth 437 million euros (about $490 million). "And there is a new package of military aid worth 437 million euros from Spain. Thank you!" Zelenskyy said in his statement.
Zelenskyy said the funds will help bolster Ukraine's air defenses. Russia has continued to strike Ukrainian transportation and energy infrastructure with missiles and drones, and Kyiv has placed interceptors and air-defense systems at the top of its requirements. During their meeting, the two leaders coordinated the details of the defense package to address Ukraine's most critical defense requirements.
Spain is among Europe's larger military donors to Ukraine. Since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, Madrid has committed billions of euros in military assistance, including a previously announced 1-billion-euro arrangement for 2026. The Spanish government has not yet published the equipment list or delivery timetable for the new 437-million-euro package.
