Follow-Up: Kushner Says Brussels Consultations Focused on Security Guarantees for Ukraine and a Broader European Security Architecture

Brussels — Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's envoy, said in a post on X on November 5 that the United States had held productive and substantive discussions in Brussels with Ukraine, NATO and European partners on two essential and interlinked elements of a lasting peace: security guarantees for Ukraine and a broader European security architecture.
Kushner wrote that the U.S. objective is to address the security concerns of all sides through practical, mutually agreed arrangements that reduce the risk of future conflict, and that Washington is working intensively with all parties to find practical solutions that can bring the war to an end and establish the foundations for lasting peace.
The Brussels consultations prepare the ground for next week's talks in Abu Dhabi: on November 10–11 the United States will convene the first trilateral peace discussions with Ukraine and Russia since February, with Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff leading the U.S. side. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with Kushner and Witkoff for about ninety minutes on November 4 and asked that post-war security guarantees be truly ironclad; Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Abu Dhabi agenda is the security guarantees of the parties, with details to be discussed behind closed doors.
Major differences remain over territorial demands, Ukraine's future security and the role European nations would play in supporting a potential settlement.
