Friday, November 6, 2026 · Federal · GSM News

The U.S. Department of the Treasury on November 6 released a readout of a call in which Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent and United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer spoke with Vice Premier He Lifeng of China to discuss the bilateral economic relationship and implementation of the Busan arrangement. The two sides reaffirmed the value of maintaining direct and candid communication.

Secretary Bessent emphasized the importance of China fully and immediately implementing its commitments made in Busan and raised concerns about recent Chinese actions. He underscored that continued progress depends on concrete results and that the United States will closely assess China's implementation of the arrangement.

Secretary Bessent also reiterated the Trump Administration's commitment to pursuing trade and economic policies that benefit American workers, farmers, and businesses and strengthen U.S. economic and national security.

The Busan arrangement is the economic and trade understanding reached after the U.S. and Chinese leaders met in Busan, South Korea, in late October. The call was the latest direct exchange between the two sides' trade leads on putting that arrangement into effect.
