Culver City in November: Asian World Film Festival Opens November 12, with E-Waste Collection and Free Compost
The City of Culver City, in Los Angeles County, California, has published its November calendar: film festivals, cultural performances, community workshops and family activities run throughout the month.
On Saturday, November 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the city will hold an E-Waste Collection and Paper Shredding Event at Syd Kronenthal Park. Residents can drive up and drop off old electronics, with paper shredding limited to six boxes per vehicle; refrigerators, thermostats and air conditioners will not be accepted, and participants should bring identification or mail verifying a Culver City address. Rain cancels only the shredding portion.
The 12th Annual Asian World Film Festival returns to Culver City from November 12 to 19, showcasing films from more than 50 countries, including films submitted for Oscar and Golden Globe consideration. On November 13, the Wende Museum Community Center hosts NOOR: Illuminating Oneness Through Music, a free evening of North Indian classical music with a community reception at 6 p.m. and the performance at 7 p.m.
On November 14, a free compost giveaway runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bill Botts Park while supplies last, and Fox Hills Park hosts Sensory Saturdays for young children that morning. From November 15 to 21, the Culver City Municipal Plunge collects nonperishable food, offering a free swim pass to participants who donate four items.
On November 21, a community budget workshop at the Senior Center invites residents to share priorities for the city's future budget, and November 28 is Small Business Saturday citywide. The city has also launched FlashVote, a tool that lets residents answer one-minute monthly surveys, and is seeking input on its Community Cultural Equity Plan.
