Target Gears Up for the Holidays: 8,000+ New Gifts, Mostly Exclusive, and Daily Deals From November 1

In its holiday guide released October 21, Target said it is stocking more than 8,000 new gifts this year, over half of them exclusive to Target. Most new items are priced at $20 or less, with thousands at $5 or less, as the retailer pitches affordable gift-giving.
On products, cashmere sweaters start at $45 and faux-fur throws at $30, anchoring what Target calls its affordable-quality gift range. On promotions, a Deal of the Day runs from November 1 through December 24, with one special offer daily and, for the first time, a sneak peek the day before; an early Black Friday event ran November 5 to 7, with limited-time weekend deals following each week. Target is also testing an AI shopping assistant called Ask Target to help customers pick gifts by budget and recipient.
This year's Target holiday campaign is themed the 'Academy of Giftology.' CEO Michael Fiddelke and chief merchandising officer Cara Sylvester said that in a price-sensitive year, Target's strategy is to pair exclusive products with low price points so shoppers do not have to wait for Black Friday itself to find a good deal.
