Cambodia's Energy Subsidies Pass 600 Million Dollars: Hun Manet Says Fuel and Power Support Continues as Petrol Rises 31 Percent

Saturday, November 7, 2026 · World · GSM News

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said on November 5, while distributing rice seeds and supplies to flood-affected households in Pursat province, that the government has committed more than 600 million US dollars to curb fuel and electricity costs amid high global oil prices.

According to Hun Manet, between 500 million and 600 million dollars of the support comes through fuel tax measures, and another roughly 70 million dollars has been borne by the state utility EDC to contain electricity prices. Ministry of Commerce pricing for November 1 to 11 puts regular gasoline at 5,050 riels per litre, up 31 percent from February, and diesel at 5,650 riels, up 46.7 percent.

Hun Manet said the subsidies have no set end date and their continuation is tied to global prices staying high. The figure updates the nearly 500 million dollars he announced on October 7.
