Raiders Safety Chinn Fined $17,911 for Hit on Wilson Ruled Unnecessary Roughness

Las Vegas Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn was fined $17,911 on Nov. 7 for a controversial hit in the Week 8 game against the New York Jets. The league ruled that Chinn's helmet-to-helmet hit late in the fourth quarter on Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson constituted unnecessary roughness, under the league's rules protecting defenseless players. The Raiders won that game 38-33, and Chinn also recorded a key fourth-quarter interception. The fine was announced as the Raiders prepare to face the San Francisco 49ers, with general manager John Spytek able to keep reinforcing the roster before the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
