Saturday, November 7, 2026 · Sports · GSM News

The Detroit Pistons host the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night, Nov. 8, in one of the weekend's most watched NBA matchups between two strong teams from the East and West. Detroit has started 6-2 to lead the Central Division; the Lakers, at 8-2, are tied for the league's best start, have won all four November games and are averaging 127.3 points.

Lakers star Luka Doncic is in scorching form: on Nov. 7 against the Portland Trail Blazers he scored a season-high 53 points in a 124-118 win. Doncic is averaging 40.1 points this season and 45.0 in four November games, shooting 25 of 55 from three (45.5%). In 10 career games against Detroit he has averaged 35.1 points, 9.5 assists and 8.0 rebounds — though the Pistons have won the last four meetings.

For Detroit, Cade Cunningham has averaged 27.3 points over the last four games; against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday he had 26 points and 11 assists and Duncan Robinson scored 27, but the Pistons lost 112-106. Starting center Jalen Duren has been limited by a hamstring injury to just two games this season. Detroit averages 111.1 points with an up-and-down offense, and facing the Lakers' firepower will be a stern test.
