Wiener Wins San Francisco's 11th Congressional District, Succeeding Pelosi

The Associated Press confirmed on Nov. 6 that California State Senator Scott Wiener has won San Francisco's 11th congressional district, succeeding retiring former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In the AP's count at the time, Wiener had 54.6% of the vote, about 119,475 votes, to San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan's 45.4%, about 99,460 votes. Chan was born in Hong Kong, studied in Taiwan and immigrated to the United States at 13; had she won, she would have been the first Asian-American member of Congress representing San Francisco. Wiener will take over the seat Pelosi has held for nearly 40 years when the new Congress is seated in January 2027.
