No. 2 Pitt Volleyball Sweeps Duke 3-0 to Reach 22-1

The second-ranked University of Pittsburgh women's volleyball team swept Duke 3-0 at home at the Petersen Events Center on the evening of Nov. 6, by set scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-20, improving to 22-1 as it pursues a sixth straight trip to the national semifinals.
Pitt's serving was the story: the Panthers scored on 59.5% of their serves. Sophomore setter Izzy Stark served 17 times in her starting rotation and helped the team win 11 of those points, including the match-point ace, setting the early tone. Duke, 16-7 on the season with the nation's 24th-ranked attack, never found a rhythm against Pitt's strong serving and tight blocking.
Pitt hosts No. 20 North Carolina at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8; the two teams are tied at 11-1 in the ACC standings, making the match a direct battle for position in the conference race.
