Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands Rejects Dutch Cybersecurity Report as Groundless Smear

The spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands issued a statement on November 7 rejecting the China-related content of a report recently released by the Dutch cybersecurity authorities, saying China expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition.
The spokesperson said the Dutch report groundlessly accused China of launching cyberattacks against targets in the Netherlands and Europe, repeating the same old allegations about a so-called "China cyber threat." The China-related content disregards facts and makes groundless accusations with malicious intent to smear China's image, the spokesperson said.
China is one of the major victims of cyberattacks and has always firmly opposed and cracked down on all forms of cyberattacks in accordance with the law, the spokesperson said, adding that China opposes using cyberspace to undermine other countries' national security and social stability, and that cybersecurity is a common challenge that should be addressed through dialogue, consultation and practical cooperation.
The spokesperson urged the relevant Dutch authorities to abandon ideological bias, correct their erroneous approach without delay, stop repeatedly making an issue of China, and stop politicizing cybersecurity issues, calling on the Dutch side to work with China in the same direction and jointly uphold peace, security, openness and cooperation in cyberspace.
It was the embassy's second public statement on a Dutch cybersecurity-related report in about a month: on October 8, the embassy responded to a Dutch security authorities' report alleging that Chinese hackers would step up attacks against the Netherlands by exploiting edge devices, likewise expressing strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition.
