Giving Tuesday on December 1: Save the Children Urges Small Monthly Gifts as 2025 Giving Hit $4 Billion

Saturday, November 7, 2026 · Nonprofits · GSM News

Giving Tuesday, the annual global day of generosity, falls on Tuesday, December 1, 2026 — the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States, following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Save the Children said that in 2025, 38.1 million people in the United States took part and gave $4.0 billion to causes they care about.

Save the Children, which has worked for more than 100 years to help children stay healthy, keep learning and stay safe in the United States and around the world, said gifts given on Giving Tuesday go to work right away, wherever children need help most. According to the organization, $25 can help send healthy snacks to 25 kids living in poverty. Donors can give online, monthly, through cryptocurrency or a donor-advised fund, from the organization's Gift Guide, or by starting their own fundraiser.

Save the Children said it has a proven record of using donations efficiently and effectively, and has received an A- rating from CharityWatch and a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the highest score possible from the independent charity evaluator. Cryptocurrency donations are accepted on Giving Tuesday and year-round, and the crypto giving season runs through December 31.

The GivingTuesday movement began in 2012 and has grown into a global generosity movement. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has also announced its GivingTuesday plans for December 1: donations will fund research and treatment for children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. St. Jude said families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food. According to the hospital, $14 could help provide one platelet count test for a patient, and $50 could help provide two days of meals.
