300,000 Holiday Cards Sent Across All 50 States: GlamourGals Campaign Enters Fifth Year

Massage Envy has announced its fifth year of support for the GlamourGals Foundation's *My Dear Friend* holiday card writing campaign, donating $20,500 to the nonprofit. The campaign sends handwritten holiday cards to older adults living in care communities, reminding them they are seen and valued. The GlamourGals Foundation has worked since 2000 to reduce elder loneliness, with teen volunteer chapters providing companionship, conversation and complimentary beauty makeovers to isolated seniors in their local communities.
Massage Envy announced the donation on November 3, 2026, in Scottsdale, Arizona. The foundation said that since the campaign began, *My Dear Friend* has delivered more than 300,000 holiday messages to seniors across all 50 states. For older adults living in care communities, the holidays can be especially lonely, the foundation said, and a handwritten card is a reminder that someone remembers them.
GlamourGals' teen volunteer chapters operate across the country, with young volunteers visiting seniors regularly to talk, share a beauty treatment and build an ongoing companionship. Massage Envy, the nation's largest provider of massage services across its franchise network, said its fifth year of support is part of its community work.
Loneliness among older adults is a long-standing issue in the United States. The National Institute on Aging notes that loneliness and social isolation are not the same thing: loneliness is the distressing feeling of being alone or cut off. The institute's guide suggests older adults stay connected by taking a class, joining community activities, calling family and friends, and learning to use video chat. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, citing a 2020 National Academies report, said more than one-third of adults 45 and older feel lonely, and nearly one-fourth of adults 65 and older are socially isolated. Older adults and their families can call the Eldercare Locator at 800-677-1116 or visit eldercare.acl.gov to find local aging services.
