Dover Holds Its Veterans Day Parade on the Morning of Nov. 7, Honoring Veterans and Service Members

DOVER, Delaware — Dover's Veterans Day parade and celebration took place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, honoring veterans and active-duty service members. Hosted by American Legion Post 94, the parade set out from the corner of Jerusalem Road and Forest Street, marched east to Loockerman Square, turned onto Legislative Avenue and ended at Water Street, rain or shine. A main stage in front of Legislative Hall hosted guest speakers and community festivities, and Legislative Mall held a vendor market; veterans groups, schools, community organizations, businesses and residents were all welcome. The state veterans affairs commission and Kent County held ceremonies at the State Capitol and at the Kent County Veterans Memorial Park, at 760-816 Little Creek Road in Dover. Communities across Delaware scheduled further Veterans Day ceremonies, most on Veterans Day itself, November 11. The Dover parade is among the state's earliest large commemorations.
