Jensen Huang Admits Infidelity to Staff as Nvidia Board Launches Independent Investigation

Sunday, November 8, 2026 · Technology · GSM News

Jensen Huang, founder and chief executive officer of Nvidia, sent an internal memo to all employees on November 8 admitting that he had been unfaithful to his wife and apologizing for his actions. Nvidia's board of directors issued a statement the same day announcing an independent investigation into whether Huang has been the target of a foreign intelligence effort. Huang said in the memo that he fully supports the review and will cooperate with it, and he remains chief executive while the investigation proceeds.

"I was unfaithful to my wife," Huang wrote in the memo. "My actions hurt her and our children. There is no excuse for what I did." He said he was "deeply sorry," adding: "I love our country and our company, and I am committed to protecting Nvidia and supporting America's national security."

In its statement, the board said it is initiating the independent investigation "in light of recent reporting that founder and CEO Jensen Huang has been the target of a foreign intelligence effort." A committee of independent directors, assisted by outside independent counsel, will oversee the investigation. "The Board prioritizes U.S. national and economic security, which is paramount to the interests of NVIDIA and its shareholders," the statement said. "While the Board has no reason to believe that either national security or NVIDIA secrets were compromised, the Board's inquiry will examine all available information." The board said Huang fully supports the review and has committed to cooperating with it, that it has confidence in Huang and his leadership team, and that it will provide further updates as appropriate.

The uproar stems from a Financial Times report on November 6. Citing people familiar with the matter, the newspaper reported that the U.S. intelligence community believes Huang, 63, had a romantic relationship with Alice Huang, an executive at Singapore-based chip company Megaspeed, and that U.S. officials believe she was recruited to spy for China's Ministry of State Security. According to the report, U.S. officials wrote a memo earlier this year, based on information obtained by American intelligence, saying Huang had been romantically involved with her; the memo was shared with a small group of top officials. The claims about Alice Huang's alleged intelligence work and about the relationship rest on U.S. intelligence assessments and media reporting and have not been independently verified. Alice Huang is not related to Jensen Huang, and there is no public information that she has been charged with any espionage offense.

Huang had previously insisted that his dealings with Alice Huang were normal, and Nvidia has said his interactions with her were "not unusual"; the company declined to comment on the intelligence memo. According to the Financial Times, Alice Huang could not be reached for comment, and the White House and the CIA declined to comment. A spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Washington has previously called the reporting unsubstantiated and a smear against China.

In Congress, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast, House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party Chairman John Moolenaar and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rick Crawford have jointly asked Huang to sit for a closed-door briefing on November 18 about his dealings with Alice Huang, and asked him to confirm by November 11 whether he will appear. Nvidia is scheduled to report quarterly earnings on November 17, the day before the briefing. The company's market value hit a record of nearly $5.8 trillion in October before slipping below $5 trillion, and Nvidia has no public succession plan.
